This specialist MSc Earthquake Engineering and Infrastructure Resiliance at the University of Bristol will help train the next generation of leaders in earthquake engineering and natural disaster risk management. These are individuals who want to make an impact on the design of the built environment, mitigate seismic loss and the protect human life. This unique postgraduate degree combines earthquake, structural and geotechnical engineering with infrastructure design, assessment and management.

Your learning experience includes having access to the world-class facilities at Bristol where you will benefit from studying in one of the UK’s leading centres for earthquake engineering. Here, you will use the state-of-the-art BLADE/EQUALS laboratory, including one of the most advanced earthquake shaking tables in Europe. Other exciting facilities include the new National Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction Laboratory at the University of Bristol. This Lab is operating as of 2021, and is the result of a £12 million investment that will enable large scale experiments for use in the field of earthquake engineering and infrastructure resilience.

In addition to top teaching facilities you will work with expert staff with links to international partners who can give you the real-world exposure you need in the world of problem solving and other challenges that engineers face. Graduates of the MSc Earthquake Engineering & Infrastructure Resiliance program are in high demand by major UK and international employers.

You will also have to chance to be part of a field trip to an earthquake affected area in south-east Europe. You will observe structures designed with innovative methods to resist earthquake forces or inspect the damage of a recent aftermath by using modern tools for non-destructive material testing and remote imaging.
