What better place to learn history than at the oldest and most historic universities in Wales? This fascinating subject has been taught at Aberystwyth University since 1872. This Masters degree gives students the opportunity to study modern British, continental European, American and/or world history from the early 19th century to the present with a team of leading specialists in their fields. This one year postgraduate program introduces students to a variety of perspectives including political, diplomatic, social, cultural and media history, and also provides intensive training in research skills and methods for modern history. Also included is the opportunity to develop or enhance your knowledge of a European language.
What also makes this program unique is the opportunity that students have to access one of five UK copyright libraries, the National Library of Wales. You will benefit from a small group learning environment as well as having the chance to enter a work placement at an institution which regularly engages with history.
Students also have a chance to develop their own research in the field of modern history while being helped by experts in the Department of History and Welsh history.
