It is usually difficult for students to try and figure out exactly what they want to do when it’s time for college or university, or even when it’s time to consider postgraduate studies. Whether you are a high school students looking for some private guidance counselling or a university graduate deciding which Master’s program is best for you, Barclay Educational Services, can help you with all of these decisions!
Barclay Educational Services, based in Hamilton, Ontario has been in business helping Canadian students for more than a decade. Our experienced staff has an extensive background in guidance counselling, as well as post secondary applications and admissions. For high school students trying to decide upon a future pathway, we usually begin in Grade 10 or 11 with interest based testing. This considers not only what you might be good at in terms of abilities, but also assesses your personality to decide which careers might be most suitable for you. This takes place over several months and requires approximately three appointments (which during the pandemic is being done virtually.) Once this is decided, our expert staff also offers services to guide you through the application process to the programs of your choice, including even helping you apply to residence. Although this process takes longer, as it does not offer a one off test as do some other guidance counselling services, it is a more thorough and complete method to assist you in making critical decisions about your future.
For students who wish to study overseas directly from high school, Barclay can help you find the perfect fit there too. MANY programs in places like the UK allow high school students to apply to programs which are not accessible in Canada at this point. For example, Law, Chiropractic, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Medicine are open to high school applicants. The qualifications are easily transferred to working back here at home, often saving you both time and tuition.
Finally, for students who have already completed an undergraduate degree and are looking to go onto postgraduate studies, Barclay works with more than 25 overseas colleges and universities in the UK, France, Germany and Ireland. Many are Russell Group Schools which is equivalent to Ivy League schools here in North America. An added benefit of studying for a Master’s overseas is that the vast majority of programs are just one year!
