A huge announcement from the university of Bristol as the school plans for a new campus at Cattle Market Road, opening in 2026. The new facility will be located next to Temple Meads Station, and will advance Bristol’s reputation as a global leader in research, education and innovation.
The site will welcome 4,600 students and 650 staff who will come together with business and community partners to tackle a variety of challenges. Living space on Temple Island will house approximately 900 students.
The former Royal Mail sorting office sits at the heart of the campus. A vast academic building (38,000 sq m) will be the main centre for the Business School, digital engineering research groups, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre and offices for enterprise and community partners.
The campus will strengthen the data science, digital innovation, creative industries, cyber and quantum technology sectors that are already flourishing in Bristol and the West of England. The new campus will also be a hub for community life as on weekends and holidays, local people are invited to take part in lifelong learning programs, events, festivals and research activities.
This project will also introduce more inclusive routes into education and bring £1.6 billion a year to the city economy. The University of Bristol is working closely with Bristol City Council, the West of England Combined Authority, Network Rail and Homes England to achieve these aims.
