Would you like to understand the major issues and critical debates in this increasingly critical field? The MA in International Security and Development provides a strong foundation for students wishing to pursue postgraduate studies and employment in this area.
Security, violence and conflict are now key elements relating to international politics and development policy discussions. This means that understanding the modern world demands a solid foundation of knowledge regarding conflict and violence.
Along with ‘traditional’ security issues such as war and conflict, this program also explores ‘non-traditional’ issues such as economic security, environmental security, health and migration. Some of the approaches examined include realism, securitization theory, feminist approaches, critical theory and poststructuralism.
Graduates of this program go on to work at places like the UN, other humanitarian organizations, government and politics.
