It seems each day brings a new and different threat to International Security. There new threats are happening in a number of critical areas, including civil war, terrorism and transnational crime, and weapons of mass destruction.

This MSc in International Security at the University of Bristol provides students with a theoretical and empirical understanding of the international security environment of the post-Cold War era. This means gaining a solid foundation of knowledge around the origins of conflicts and peace, the emergence of new security threats and the numerous agencies which currently play key roles in conflict prevention, peacekeeping and peacemaking.

One main goal of this one year postgraduate program is to be empirically relevant by teaching students the application of theoretical concepts to contemporary conflicts and current affairs. Find out how Barclay can help you apply with FREE application support.

The strong curriculum in this program is varied. Students take a combination of mandatory and optional taught units within the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies. Each module takes place over 12 weeks and students are then assessed by an essay (or equivalent form of written submission). The taught section of the programme concludes in the summer term by a dissertation.
