The Education and Universities Ministers from the four countries of the United Kingdom (UK) England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have just released a statement about overseas studies taking place there this fall.

The Ministries say that they will be working with UK universities to ensure that existing processes are as flexible as possible, so that anyone wanting to study in the UK will still be able to do so. Despite disruptions due to the pandemic, they are asking students to begin to prepare for their studies by familarising themselves with requirement for the Tier 4 Student Visa so that visa processing can happen in plenty of time before classes begin.

The Ministries are also monitoring worldwide border, travel and public health restrictions to make adjustments to the application and study process as needed. In addition, they are urging students to apply even if they are unable to travel to the UK to meet the usual timeline. Universities will be flexible this year in accommodating circumstances where possible to that the quality education that the UK is famous for, will still be delivered to the many thousands of International Students who study there each year.

To insure the safety of students and staff, all international arrivals are now required to self isolate for 14 days upon arrival and to provide contact and accommodation information upon arrival to the UK. It is now a legal requirement to wear a face covering on public transport. In addition you are advised to do so wherever social distancing cannot be practiced.

Another safeguard for students is the availability of the National Health Service to both domestic and international students. International students can access care without any upfront cost and no charges apply to testing for Covid-19.

If you have any questions about your upcoming studies you are urged to contact your host university or your education agent in your home country.
